Of the Palestinians it has often been said: "They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." And in the wake of each of their missed opportunities, when Israel has been obliged to defend its citizens, Gerald Kaufman has never missed the opportunity to attack what he claims to be his own people. Whether it is simply to appease Islamic voters in his Manchester constituency or pure self-hating malice, I do not know. But let him stop claiming kinship with the Jewish people. He may have entered this world as a Jew. But long after he has gone, if anyone still remembers him, it will be as a Judas.
