Interesting to read of the celebrations in the Arab world which have greeted the early release of Iraqi journalist Muntader al-Zaidi, who famously threw his shoes at President George W Bush in Baghdad shouting: “This is a gift from the Iraqis; this is the farewell kiss, you dog!”
After the incident, thousands of Iraqis took to the streets in his support and 200 Iraqi lawyers offered to defend him for free.
He was awarded the Medal of Freedom by America's new friend Colonel Gadaffi of Libya.
Syria - another Obama cultivee - named a street in his honor.
A Saudi businessman offered to buy him a 6-door Mercedes.
Another wealthy arab offered to give him his 20-year old daughter.
(The camel was probably too high a price!)
A video game has been named after him called 'Sock & Awe'.
And a giant copper statue of a shoe was erected in Tikrit.
Upon his release, they've been celebrating in the streets and slaughtering sheep in his honor.
His daughters have been reciting the poems they've made up, further deriding the US President.
And he's totally unrepentant, now making the astonishing claim that he was tortured with electric shocks and cable on the very premises of his arrest whilst he could still hear George Bush speaking.
Under Saddam, Mr Al-Zaidi would have been tossed alive into one of his tree shredders for doing what he did.
And these are the people we freed ?
The people Obama is 'engaging'
