The BIG Lie

The latest and largest in the series of Saturday night demos against Netanyahu are reminiscent of the “Not My President” marches against Donald Trump in 2016. Elections have consequences, but it seems leftists both in Israel and the USA are never prepared to accept them like grownups.

In both countries those demos were driven by a media that blatantly lied to the public in the service of an all-powerful left-wing establishment. This has been exposed most recently in America with the exposure of the Twitter files and the release of video coverage of the entry of demonstrators into the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The BIG lie being peddled in Israel is that Netanyahu is out to change the legal system in order to escape conviction in the trial he faces for accepting free cigars and conspiring to get better treatment in the left-wing media. If that had any shred of credibility you might ask: why on earth would Bibi want to upset the very judicial elites who will decide whether or not he goes to jail?

The truth is that the proposed judicial reforms, far from being retrospective and of any use to Bibi in his own indictments, have nothing to do with civil or criminal cases. They have to do with the self-appointing judiciary overruling the democratically elected parliament, the Knesset.

In no other democracy do courts have such veto power. As everyone knows, judges are there to interpret laws, not to make or change them. As things stand in Israel, and has been demonstrated very recently, all the supreme court has to do is deem a law or a ministerial appointment ‘unreasonable’ for it to scuttle the will of the people and its elected government.

Far from a threat to democracy, Netanyahu’s proposed reforms are solely directed to preserving ‘government of the people, by the people, for the people’ as opposed to autocratic rule by an unelected court president acting as if he sits in an upper house of parliament.

Which brings me back to those Saturday night demos, stirred up by the media peddling the BIG lie.

Have you thought how much police manpower is needed to secure any one of those mega demos? How much background investigation is involved by the Shin Bet and other branches of the security apparatus? You are talking about many thousands of officers and working hours which are normally devoted to detective work in the prevention of the kind of terror attacks which have plagued Israel since these Saturday night circuses began.

Surrounded by mortal enemies, as well as clearly infiltrated by them, Israel’s security resources are still limited. A week’s planning for the securing of a major demo could better be spent protecting innocents like the 14 Jews who have so far been murdered in half as many weeks.

My Love for Trump

I enjoyed watching Trump’s rallies in the closing days of the election campaign. The huge crowd sizes and overflows were amazing as was the enthusiasm which was booming. Amid the raucous chants of “USA” and “Lock Them Up” there was one unusual chorus I’d never heard before – least of all in politics.

"We love you!” they roared. Again, and again.

Well I guess I do too.

And it’s not just for all the bountiful gifts Trump has bestowed on our people and our Jewish state. From the Jerusalem embassy and Golan sovereignty to stifling the antisemitism at the UN, defunding UNRWA and holding Iran’s feet to the fire. More than that, I loved him simply as a kindred spirit.

Just think of how Trump came on the scene. As soon as he declared his candidacy he was demonized from all sides, right and left, as some sort of creature from the depths. I recall one conservative podcaster referring to him as ‘some kind of lizard’.

Once elected with a wide margin his presidency was promptly delegitimized, with hordes of protesters marching under the banner of “Not my president!” for months on end.

And then came the two impeachments over Russia and Ukraine. After 2 years and 40 million dollars of the Muller enquiry (staffed exclusively by Clinton supporters) it was found that there was no Trump collusion with Russia. Instead we learned that the whole Russia hoax was started by Clinton based on a fake Russian dossier to deflect attention from her own email scandal. Then as to Trump’s phone call to the president of Ukraine, it was found the only real story with Ukraine was Hunter Biden’s million dollar payoffs by corrupt Burisma and Joe Biden’s televised leverage of a billion dollars of US aid to get a Ukrainian prosecutor off his son’s back.

So it turns out, everything the Democrats accused Trump of, and falsely, they were actually doing themselves. Russia collusion to spy on the Tump campaign and abuse of Vice-Presidential privilege to hide Ukrainian corruption. Those are double standards by any measure.

These three elements: Demonization, Delegitimization and Double standards happen to be the 3D test of antisemitism as defined by former Russian dissident Anatoly Sharansky.

And there lies my kinship to Donald Trump.

Israel is today the World’s Jew. The Yid among nations. The one so many European leaders still wish had never come into existence, to mess up their lucrative deals with oil-rich sheikhdoms. The place they call ‘that shitty little country’. The one that is singled out at the UN for more punishment than all the despotic and rights-abusing members combined. Between the UN and EU, all 3D boxes are checked.

As the son of an Auschwitz survivor whose parents were gassed and incinerated on arrival, it hurts me every day that despite all that happened, the Jewish state is still the one country that is not welcomed in the family of nations – truly a nation that dwells alone.

Which is why I empathise with any victim of 3D – like Donald Trump. Truly a kindred spirit.

How ironic that in less than four years he made such stunning progress bringing together Arabs and Jews. And how sad that the Saudi icing on the cake will now melt away with new American empowerment of Iran.

Trump Derangement Syndrome

 A very dear friend of mine - an American-born and educated rabbi, youth leader and teacher living in Jerusalem - doesn't like Trump. His Facebook posts boil over with contempt for this president to the extent that I have latterly replied to them with laughing emojis, because I can see 4 more years of suffering ahead. His latest post referred to the presidential debate issue of 500 migrant children unable to be reunited with their parents and said this made voting for Trump contrary to Halacha (Jewish law).

I felt I had to respond this time with more than emojis, and this was my reply: 

I do laugh at the degree to which TDS can affect even the most sane and educated people. The idea that voting for Trump should be against the Halacha is truly deranged. That it should be about 500 migrant kids separated from their parents when voting Biden means empowering the continuing aborting of millions of babies at or close to term (or beyond in Va.)? Not in my book.

I could happily argue the rights and wrongs of Trump with you, but to be totally fair I need to declare my biases. I love Israel and care deeply about its security and its place in that dangerous region. So I will try to disregard that Trump has been undeniably the best US president for Israel since its founding; that unlike all past presidents, he kept his word about moving the embassy to Jerusalem; that he recognised Jewish sovereignty over the Golan and deep-sixed the notion of our ever returning to the 1967 ‘Auschwitz borders’.

I will also disregard that he tore up Obama’s nefarious Iran deal, defunded the PLO & UNRWA and had his UN ambassador put a stop to hateful censures of Israel and also withdraw from its nefarious Human Rights Council, chaired by the world’s biggest abusers. And, of course, I will have to pretend that those stunning peace agreements between Israel and four Arab states just didn’t happen nor that Saudi Arabia is about to join the club.

So, what am I left with that’s beyond my biases?

Well, I do grant you - and all victims of TDS - that Trump is nothing nearly as clean-cut and polished as Obama. It takes a slick politician to throw Israel under a bus at the UN during his final month in office.

Yes, I do grant you that Trump is the unwashed outsider, loud, crass, macho, overbearing … you choose … and is perhaps the antithesis of your typical politician. But then again, unlike most politicians I have seen and heard in my lifetime, he has been the ONLY one to keep his election promises. All of them!

In fact I can’t think of a single 2016 promise of his that he hasn’t kept. In truth he has actually OVER-delivered – such as freeing Biden’s black prisoners through criminal justice reform, and taking 7 million people off food stamps and 10 million off welfare, with the lowest minority unemployment rates in US history. All these are authentic government numbers. Surely you trust the Deep State?

But it seems academics hate Trump most of all. I don’t think they can stand the idea of a loudmouth businessman who never went to Yale or Harvard sullying the White House with his poor manners, trophy wife and Jewish grandchildren.

This makes the Dems the true bigots in this four-year tantrum.

Happily, ordinary honest, family-loving and hard-working Americans are a lot smarter than the media, academia and big tech give them credit for.

Which is why Trump will be re-elected by a wide margin.

Which is why I use those laughing emojis.

Durban meets Mt. Rushmore

I have previously written about the uncanny parallels between the Left’s treatment of Israel and its treatment of Donald Trump.

Former Soviet dissident Natan Sharansky invented the ‘3D Test’ for differentiating legitimate criticism of Israel from antisemitism. There had to be Demonization, Delegitimization and the application of Double standards.

All three are used against Israel.

All three are used against Donald Trump.

When he announced his presidential run they demonized him as some kind of monster. When he was inaugurated they marched in their tens of thousands to delegitimize him as “not my president”. And for the past three and a half years the Left have not stopped applying double standards by projecting on Trump acts of dishonesty and misconduct of which Democrats are themselves guilty in spades.

Last weekend we saw a new parallel: Durban meets Mount Rushmore.

In one of his best speeches yet, President Trump stood beneath the iconic memorial to four presidents to extol the virtues of America, its achievements and its enormous potential as the land of freedom and opportunity. It was love of people and country – a call for patriotism in the face of those who trample the flag and kneel for the anthem.

The following day, virtually all the mainstream media wrote up the speech as ‘racist’.

This reminds me of the 2001 Durban conference, organized by our friends at UNESCO, which proposed that ‘Zionism equals Racism’.

Well, the folks who brought you Durban, are now saying Americanism equals Racism.

No wonder Trump is so empathetic to Israel.

They both see the world in 3D.

Stupid American Jews

I should be talking about tomorrow’s Israeli election, but I am seized by a most depressing headline last week about the American election stage.

A poll of American Jewish voting intentions by the Jewish Electorate Institute claimed that American Jews would still vote 65% for Socialist Bernie Sanders against 30% for Trump. This is despite 45% of the sample having an unfavourable view of Sanders and 91% of the poll group claiming to be pro-Israel.

What is wrong with these people? Supposedly OUR people?
Trump is undeniably the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the Oval Office and he has backed up every word with action.

Trump appointed Pence, Pompeo, Haley, Greenblatt, Friedman and Kushner - all staunch supporters of Israel and outspoken critics of Iran - to the most pivotal positions of influence over Middle East affairs. Then he cancelled Obama’s iniquitous Iran deal which gave the rabid ayatollahs the cash and cover to fulfil their dream of wiping out Israel as “a one-bomb-country”. Next he recognised Jewish sovereignty over Jerusalem and moved the US embassy there. If that wasn’t enough, he went on to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Whilst all that was going on his ‘dream appointment’ of Nikki Haley as UN ambassador led to the defunding of UNRWA and its Hamas-run schools of Jew-hatred and America’s withdrawal from the incessantly Israel-bashing Human Rights Council in Geneva which has just welcomed Venezuela’s Maduro as an honoured member.

On top of all that, Trump brazenly took out Israel's most dangerous terrorist foe, Qassem Soleimani, in a clear message to Iran that he wasn’t afraid to hit them hard, even in an election year.

And while all this was going on in public, Trump was quietly providing Israel with all the military and defence materiel that it used to have to go begging for to former US presidents. New planes, spare parts, early warning systems, bunker busters. Whatever was needed, Israel got.

And now there is the grand peace plan, backed by a new alliance of Arab countries which Trump knitted together on his very first foreign visit as president. This plan would not only assure Israel of the security of its settlements and sovereignty over Jerusalem but will give it vital and permanent control over the Jordan Valley, Israel’s eastern border and the last frontier not yet facing an Iranian proxy.

For the Jews, undeniably, Donald Trump is the gift that just keeps on giving.

So what is it that 60 percent of American Jewish voters don’t get??
How in good conscience could they vote for a Bernie Sanders who excoriates Israel and takes selfies with outspoken haters like Linda Sarsour and Rashida Tlaib? Sanders truly is their ‘useful Jewish idiot. (Ironic that the expression was invented by Lenin!)

How can such voters claim to be 91% pro-Israel and yet bite the hand that has fed Israel’s vital needs for the last 3 years?

Have American Jews forgotten how Obama threw Israel under the bus with UN resolution 2334 as his final act as president? A public tarring of illegitimacy as his parting gift to the Jewish state. The applause of every Jew-hating state and BDS peddler around the world was deafening.
And you American Jews want more of this?
With Sanders?
Or with Obama’s vice president Biden?

Chevra – Don’t Throw Away Your Trump Card !

I have this movie playing in my head. 

It’s set in a parallel Israel where Olmert actually gave back the Golan to Syria and divided Jerusalem back in 2008 as part of his much vaunted ‘67-borders offer to Abbas.

Fast-forward 10 years and, in my movie, the new US President Trump is chatting to Prime Minister Netanyahu in the Oval Office. “Hey Bibi,” he says. “Shame your guys gave away Jerusalem and the Golan. I’d have let you keep both.”

As an orthodox Jew and religious Zionist, I truly believe that the Almighty has protected Israel from the folly of its leaders. The lesson is that we must hold on tightly to what we’ve got - to all the homelands that we have been blessed enough to liberate and for which brave soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice and for whom their families still grieve.

Remember when Obama shunned Bibi and Barak at that first meeting in his White House? How he left them in a room saying he was off to dinner with his family but to call him if they came up with any ideas (to dismember parts of Eretz Yisrael)?  And how they had to leave by the back door, denied any photo-ops on Obama’s orders? 

I remember that horrible evening. Bibi was not to know that this ‘Ice Age’ would wind up as a two-term presidency. And how it would end with a $150bn lifeline to Iran and Obama kicking Israel under a bus at the UN in his final days of office.

But still, Bibi Netanyahu steered the Israeli ship of state though those stormy seas so that we lived to see the benevolence of the Trump era with our territory intact. Nothing given away. And stronger economically and militarily than ever before.

So, I appeal to Israelis – don’t throw away your Trump card tomorrow.

Bibi vs. the Post Democracy Movement

A bad day for Bibi? A bad day for the Likud?
Yes, to both.

But let’s understand what is going on here.

It’s no coincidence that Bibi opened with thanks to President Trump for his support. This is because they are kindred spirits. They are both targets of the same new and powerful enemy: the weaponised state.

For Trump it started under Obama when the IRS was weaponised to harass any right wing campaign funds and NGOs, the FBI was weaponised to eavesdrop on Fox News and ultimately the justice department was weaponised to investigate supposed fake Trump-Russia election collusion as a smokescreen to the genuine Clinton collusion when Hillary’s State Department approved the transfer of 20% of America’s uranium holdings to Russia, while nine investors in the deal funnelled $145 million to the Clinton Foundation. Whilst the Mueller probe against Trump has found no Russia collusion, it’s clear that Trump associates – such as Cohen and Manafort – have been threatened with long jail terms for unrelated misdeeds unless they dish up some Trump dirt, whether real or made-up.

The same goes for Bibi. Just like Trump, he has a 90% leftist media ranged against him along with the powers that be in the self-appointed court system and ‘Deep State’ of the civil service.

This is the ugliness of our post-democracy age. If you can’t win power through the ballot box, use all other means. Weaponize the media, justice and law enforcement, make sensational allegations and leak stories all over the place. Trial by television.

As I posted last week, the Lahav 433 police unit has an abysmal track record with high profile indictments which have an even bigger failure rate than Britain’s SFO (which satirical magazine Private Eye lampoons as: the Serious Farce Office). When the Bibi cases collapse in two years’ time, it will be too late to fix next month’s electoral damage to the Right which the media, supreme court, left-wing parties and their Arab bedfellows are hoping for.

But let’s not forget, this is Bibi Netanyahu. This is a man who doesn’t shy away from a fight. A man who defied the last president of the United States by going over his head to Congress over the Iran deal. If he fights his corner even 1/10th of the extent to which he has fought Israel’s corner all these years, he will come out victorious.

When it comes to predicting Israeli voting intentions, I always think of what the average taxi driver would be saying. I think the Israeli cabbies are smart enough to see through this leftist smokescreen and will reflect the wider public in rejecting the slander and voting in favour of what’s been achieved by Likud under Netanyahu. The most sustained period of peace and quiet, economic strength and success and levels of optimism and happiness that we have seen in the history of the state.

Trump & Syria

President Trump’s announcement on withdrawing US troops from Syria seems to have taken everyone by surprise, not least General Jim Mattis who is resigning as his Secretary of Defence.

The simple explanation is that it’s simply another election promise he wants to deliver, at the end of an impressive ticked list unmatched by any president in living memory – let alone just halfway through his first term. But to bring back troops from harm’s way and cut America’s losses in blood and treasure one would have expected the first priority would have been Afghanistan, a total basket-case of a campaign where, after 17 years of American engagement, the Taliban still hold more territory than when it all started. Syria has much more strategic value, which is why Russia, Iran and Turkey are so heavily invested there.

OK, so Trump has fired from the hip as usual, the optics are poor and the signalling to Russia, Iran and what’s left of ISIS is bad … but what’s good about this decision?
Well, for one thing it reduces the chance of World War III blowing up on Israel’s doorstep. It’s been terribly worrying to see US, Russian and Israeli warplanes whizzing about in such a cramped airspace, with the most sophisticated S300 antiaircraft missiles deployed on hair-triggers down on the ground where Iranian fanatics pray three times a day for the apocalypse which will usher in the messiah of their ‘Hidden Imam’. The whole scenario looked like a prologue for Armageddon.

Then there is the reality that the existence of 2,000 US servicemen in Syria was only ever symbolic and would never have made much difference on the battlefield. Israel has never wanted American soldiers to die on its behalf – all we ever wanted was America to give us whatever planes and other weaponry and spare parts we needed to defend ourselves, and the all-important QME (qualitative military edge).

I can still remember quite vividly the desperate figure of Golda Meir begging President Nixon for an arms airlift during the heat of the Yom Kippur War and how not one single European country allowed those transport planes to refuel on their territory.

Then there is the Trump ‘deal of the century’ peace plan. It has been said that he would exact a high price for his embassy move to Jerusalem. Well, with this withdrawal – which will be seen by many as abandoning Israel to its fate with Putin and Khomeini on the northern border – the deal calculus may change.

Lastly, I look at Russia and Iran. Putin always wanted a warm water port for his navy and now has it on the Syrian coast at Tartus. This is next to Latakia, on which he’s established a Russian air base. No force of 2,000 or even 200,000 American troops was ever going to dislodge Putin from these prized bases. As for Iran, it’s clear to me that the most effective way to dislodge them from Syria as well as Yemen, Lebanon and Gaza, is to bankrupt the evil regime at home. And the best means of achieving that is through Trump’s crippling sanctions.

The irony is that those European countries which in 1973 refused landing rights to US planes resupplying Israel in her desperate hour of need are the same as those now protecting Iran from Trump’s sanctions. Britain, France and Germany should hang their heads in shame for the Faustian deal they’ve done with the devils in Tehran.

Trump’s knee-jerk decisions may be questionable, but Europe’s considered policies are truly shameful.

So, Trump's not presidential

I’m tired of hearing people say: “Trump's not being presidential”.

Today it was about his comments on the pipe bombs sent to Soros and other Democrat activists who openly incited supporters to mob and harass Trump staff and supporters in restaurants, stores and gas stations.  

Trump is not presidential, right.

He’s crude, unpolished and has an ego the size of Brazil.

But here’s the thing ….

He was elected precisely because people were fed up with presidential types.

Like the slick and highly polished Obama, who started off his presidency going on an apology tour for America, decimated its military, never achieved growth of more than 3% in all his 8 years, racked up more debt than all his 43 ‘presidential’ predecessors combined, weaponised the IRS, DOJ and FBI to silence his enemies, forced 300 million Americans into a doomed healthcare scheme, allowed Putin to steal Crimea with impunity, and gave Iran’s ayatollahs $150 billion plus hostage money in pallets of used banknotes.

But he did it all with oh! - such polished speech and presidential aplomb !

Now we have Trump, the oh so unpresidential POTUS.

His enemies may call him the antichrist – but he’s more the anti-politician.

Unlike most other elected leaders, he's been keeping his election promises … all of them.

In fact the only ones not delivered fully, are those obstructed by Democrats in Congress. Like the wall.

Meanwhile, he has reduced Black, Hispanic and Asian unemployment to the lowest levels in American history and women’s unemployment down to the lowest for 65 years. He’s weaned 4 million Americans off food stamps, brought back half a million manufacturing jobs to America’s heartland, faced down China on fiendish trade abuses, got US hostages released for no ransom and stopped North Korea’s missiles flying over Japan. He’s renegotiated NAFTA and forced NATO countries to pay their own way, saving America billions. He’s cancelled the Iran sell-out and is refitting the military with $700 billion a year.

Thank goodness he’s not presidential.

American Jewish Voters

So, while 51 percent of American Jewish respondents approve of Trump's efforts for Israel, only 6% would vote for him.
How sick is this?

Can these Americans really be true Jews, or has the 70% assimilation rate totally wiped out their Jewish values.

One of those is "Hakarat Hatov". That means, gratitude.

Israel is today the 'Jew among Nations' . To single out Israel for criticism with double standards and delegitimization amounts to pure antisemitism.

When Trump and Haley called time on this, and blocked it at the United Nations, they were fighting for our people, the Jews. When Trump cut funds to the PA and UNRWA for abetting Jew hatred, he was fighting for our people, the Jews. When he sanctioned UNESCO he was rescuing Jewish heritage from political erasure. And when he faced down our enemies to finally move the US embassy to Jerusalem, Trump paid the greatest honour to our eternal Jewish capital before all the world to see.

President Eisenhower treated Israel coolly, explaining to his Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, “We conduct our policy as if there were not one Jew in the country. They don’t vote for us anyway.”

If Trump were to say such a thing after the upcoming midterm elections could you possibly blame him?

Maybe if all these 'enlightened' American Jews assimilated more quickly, we might sooner be left with a truer representation of our people and their values - not least gratitude.

Trump @ War

I remember two years ago, we ended Sukkot with worried speculation that Obama would stick the knife into Israel at the UN General Assembly's opening session.

And he did so - as a parting gift to the Jews at the end of his presidency.
We could hardly have imagined the complete reversal that we saw just two months later with the surprise election of Donald Trump and the complete 180-degree turn toward Israel.
It is said: ישועת ה' כהרף עין G-d's deliverance comes in the wink of an eye. Consider Joseph waking up in his Egyptian dungeon and by sunset clothed in the robes of highest office in the land.

Whatever your American politics may be, left or right, there's no denying that no US president has done more to support Israel than any other - let alone in just 18 months of office.
Trump has put Iran back into sanctions - the most severe coming up in November - and is crippling the regime that vows to wipe Israel off the map as a 'one bomb nation'.
Through his ambassador Nikki Haley, Trump has put the boot into UN bias against Israel and withdrawn membership and funding of anti-Israel bodies like UNHCR and UNESCO.
Trump has cut funds to the so-called Palestinian Authority (still the PLO in all but name) which pays salaries to Jew killers - whom Abbas hails as heroes - and funds their families' needs with European aid money.
Trump has cut funds to UNRWA which inflated 'Palestinian refugee' numbers from 750,000 to 5 million and employs Hamas teachers to educate generations of Arabs in the narrative of Jihad and the destruction of Israel.
Trump has kept Israel plentifully supplied with the defense materiel it requires and guarantees its QME (qualitative military edge).
And, finally, President Trump has bravely moved the US embassy to Jerusalem - something that all his predecessors promised but never delivered.

Former House Speaker Tip O'Neil famously said: "all politics is local".
Well, we say that for Jews of any stripe local must always be Israel.
This is not an issue of dual loyalties, but the imperative of what is vital for Israel's security and the safety of our 6 millions brothers and sisters living there.

So, whatever you think of the star of this movie, or its director, it needs to be seen by all American Jews (except for the hopelessly pathetic self-haters) prior to the upcoming midterm elections. 

The Democrats have one simple agenda: take down Trump by impeachment and block his policies by whatever means, fair or foul.


President Trump has supported our people - it's time to return that support.

Mazeltov Mr President

Congratulations President Trump !

You pulled off what no president has achieved in the 65 years since the Korean War; and not least within 500 days of being elected as a total political novice.

It seems that your presidency is truly blessed. In that short time, you’ve decimated ISIS, restored US power and pride and projected it to the world's tyrants, you’ve cut taxes and crippling regulations, reduced African-American and Hispanic unemployment to their lowest levels in history, small business optimism is at a record high, the jobs you promised have now outpaced the jobseekers, the US economy is booming with offshore companies galloping back home in droves – and you’ve boldly opened the Jerusalem embassy and cancelled Obama’s Iran deal without the sky falling.

On the eve of the presidential election, your daughter Ivanka paid a visit to the grave of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to pray for your success. That might well have helped your poll numbers, but the stunning success of your administration in such a short time probably owes itself to something else.

It’s foretold in Genesis 12:3 – “I will bless those who bless you and will curse those who curse you".

Donald Trump and his closest advisors, notably the UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, have given Israel full-throated support in all forums and excoriated those who have sought to Demonise, Delegitimise and apply Double-standards to the Jewish state.

Those are the 3 D’s by which former Soviet dissident Natan Sharansky famously defined antisemitism.

It happens that Donald Trump has had all these 3 D’s attributed to himself by the Democrats, Leftists and Never-Trumpers.

They first Demonised him as a candidate, then they Delegitimised his election, and now they apply Double standards to actions taken by him when far more serious sins are now being shown to have been committed by Obama and the Clintons.

So, President Trump knows firsthand what it’s like to be Jewish.
And yet, he scoffs at the backbiters and just keeps on doing what he thinks is right, and fulfilling more election promises than possibly any politician in living memory.

May the blessings continue to flow and may G-d give you, Mr President, the strength and good health to keep doing the right thing for the American people and its friends and allies.

Trump's Truth to Power on Jerusalem

My Statement re Trump's declaration on Jerusalem

Likud-Herut UK applauds United States President Donald J Trump for his statement yesterday, recognising Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel.

Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital for 3,000 years and the seat of Israel’s government since 1949.

In making his bold and brave statement, President Trump spoke ‘truth to power’ in a very real sense. The truth being what is enshrined in the bible that unites the world’s three main faiths. The power being what has until now held that truth as a hostage to terror and oil interests.

We call upon our prime minister Theresa May to follow the US president’s lead and speak the same truth to the power of her own Foreign Office here in London, which has such an abysmal record on anything that concerns the Jewish state. Truth to the power of her Labour opposition, whose party has disgraced itself in the UK Jewish community and whose leader has referred to the likes of Hamas as friends.

In truth Britain owes Israel far more than just a recognition of its Jerusalem capital. It owes Israel the Kingdom of Jordan which was stolen out of its League of Nations mandate. Britain is therefore the very last nation in a position to complain about Jewish ‘occupation’ of the West Bank of the Jordan river.

So, we urge Prime Minister May to follow President Trump’s lead. To atone for that historic betrayal. To show that Britain will not be cowed by threats of terrorism – either conventional or economic. To show real daylight on this issue between her party and that of Jeremy Corbyn. And to take her Foreign Office in a new direction which might finally facilitate the very long-outstanding royal visit to the region’s only democracy – the state of Israel.

Finally we lament any death or injury caused in the rioting which has been fomented by Palestinian groups over this announcement. It is a great pity such outrage could not have been mobilised over the loss of 500,000 lives in Syria.

Trump in 3-D

Victims of antisemitism are always welcome in Israel. It’s where a Jew can proudly observe all religious requirements, rites and customs as an equal citizen and without discrimination.

Natan Sharansky came up with a simple test to expose legitimate criticism of Israel as being the same old Jew-hatred.

He called it the 3-D test. 

This stood for Demonization, De-legitimisation and Double-Standards. If Israel was being demonized – like being compared to Nazis, if its fundamental right to exist was being de-legitimized – as a nation born in sin; and if it was being held out to a different standard to all other nations – like not being entitled to shoot back under fire from hundreds of missiles … well, that meant it was just the same old antisemitism.

I believe few people understand this better than Donald Trump – and not because of his Jewish family ties.

From the earliest days of his campaign Trump was demonized in all sorts of ways and this has continued to this day. He has also been delegitimized as not honestly elected or worthy of the office of president. And finally, perhaps more than anything else, he has constantly been held to a higher standard than the Obama-Clinton administration which obstructed justice, lied about paying ransom to Iran in pallets of used dollar bills and which sold America’s uranium production to the Russians under the most dubious circumstances. 

These are just a few examples but leave me in no doubt that Trump knows what it’s truly like to be a Jew.
