He who saved us from Olmert

So, do you believe in God?

And if so, do you believe He watches over His people and the Land of Israel?

Well, if you had any doubts – not least after witnessing Israel’s wartime victories against the most impossible odds – you only need to see today’s headlines.

How ex-prime minister Ehud Olmert has teamed up with PLO chairman Mahmoud Abbas to reject Donald’s Trump’s bold peace plan.

This is the same Olmert who, in 2007, offered Syria’s president Assad the surrender of the Golan Heights, in exchange for a peace agreement. Just imagine if Olmert had succeeded with this lunatic plan. Less than 10 years later, Assad would lose control of his country to Russia and Iran, whose rocketeers would be solidly entrenched on the commanding heights with all of the Galilee laid out before them for daily target practice.

The following year, 2008, Olmert would have over 35 secret meetings with Abbas and his henchmen to thrash out a peace agreement by which Olmert would give away our sovereignty over the Temple Mount and Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem would be transferred to a 5-nation committee made up of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, “Palestine”, the United States and Israel. On top of that, Olmert was to give up the Jordan Valley and all of Judea & Samaria (aka the West Bank) except for the 5% comprising Jewish settlements, which would be exchanged for an equal amount of Israeli territory inside the Green Line. In other words – a total surrender of Jewish homeland and sovereignty over its biblical capital city as well as withdrawal from the strategically vital Jordan Valley - all in exchange for a peace contract signed by the chairman of a terrorist group.

(And oh, just by the way. Olmert also agreed to take in 5,000 so-called Palestinian refugees.)

So, where does God come into this?

He is clearly protecting the Jewish people from the folly of its own elected leaders.
You can see this Fatherly care playing out before your eyes.

Just imagine if Olmert had prevailed.
We’d have lost Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and control of our vital Jordan Valley - the last border not in control of Iranian proxies.

Then roll the calendar forward to 2018. Trump is US president and is having a conversation with prime minister Netanyahu on the White House lawn. Trump says: “Hey Bibi – real shame your guy Olmert gave away so much. I’d have recognised Jerusalem as yours, given you the Golan and Jordan Valley and approved all your settled lands in the West Bank”.

Behold He neither slumbers nor sleeps, the Guardian of Israel. [Psalms 121:4]

Chevra – Don’t Throw Away Your Trump Card !

I have this movie playing in my head. 

It’s set in a parallel Israel where Olmert actually gave back the Golan to Syria and divided Jerusalem back in 2008 as part of his much vaunted ‘67-borders offer to Abbas.

Fast-forward 10 years and, in my movie, the new US President Trump is chatting to Prime Minister Netanyahu in the Oval Office. “Hey Bibi,” he says. “Shame your guys gave away Jerusalem and the Golan. I’d have let you keep both.”

As an orthodox Jew and religious Zionist, I truly believe that the Almighty has protected Israel from the folly of its leaders. The lesson is that we must hold on tightly to what we’ve got - to all the homelands that we have been blessed enough to liberate and for which brave soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice and for whom their families still grieve.

Remember when Obama shunned Bibi and Barak at that first meeting in his White House? How he left them in a room saying he was off to dinner with his family but to call him if they came up with any ideas (to dismember parts of Eretz Yisrael)?  And how they had to leave by the back door, denied any photo-ops on Obama’s orders? 

I remember that horrible evening. Bibi was not to know that this ‘Ice Age’ would wind up as a two-term presidency. And how it would end with a $150bn lifeline to Iran and Obama kicking Israel under a bus at the UN in his final days of office.

But still, Bibi Netanyahu steered the Israeli ship of state though those stormy seas so that we lived to see the benevolence of the Trump era with our territory intact. Nothing given away. And stronger economically and militarily than ever before.

So, I appeal to Israelis – don’t throw away your Trump card tomorrow.

Turkish Delight

What does Turkey's prime minister Erdogan have to do or say to make Israel finally understand that there is nothing to be salvaged from ANY relationship with him.

Since the Gaza campaign, he has never stopped spitting in our faces, and yet our leaders still stubbornly insist it's only rain.

Even after Erdogan's bitter tirade yesterday, ex-prime minister Ehud Olmert urged the Israeli government to repair the relationship. He wanted to return to the good old old days, saying:  "Back then we were loved by the entire world: all European dignitaries would visit Israel- even after Operation Cast Lead- in order to support us and bless us."

Loved by the entire world ?

European leaders blessing us ??

What planet is this man living on ???

What better evidence can there be that this man has truly lost touch with reality?

It does explain why he considers Mahmoud Abbas (no less rabidly disposed to the Jewish state than Erdogan) to be a genuine 'peace partner' and why he was prepared to trust him with full control of Judea and Samaria including the hills overlooking Ben Gurion airport.

The bitter truth is that the only time Jews were ever 'loved and blessed' in Europe was in the aftermath of the Holocaust - still denied by Abbas - as its few skeletal survivors were helped to their feet and spoonfed by allied troops. And even that good nature didn't last very long.

But if Mr Olmert is so convinced of Turkey's vital importance to our people, I have a win-win solution for him and for Israel.

Let him be sent to Ankara as Israel's new ambassador. Let him take his staff along as part of the consular team. His lawyer and secretary who helped corrupt his term as prime minister and the property developers who corrupted his term as mayor of Jerusalem. Let them build their illegal, grotesque and ill-gotten apartment towers in the Bosphorous instead of blighting the beautiful hills of Jerusalem.

Let this disgraced leader who has taken leave of his senses, take leave of the people whose vital interests he took leave of long ago.

Sir, The prime minister maintains Morris Talansky gave him all that money without expecting anything in return.

Why shouldn't we believe him?

Isn't that Mr. Olmert's standard business model -
offering everything without expecting anything in return?

First Blood

Consistent with its unashamed policy of wanton surrender of territory and principles, the Olmert government has now agreed to free even those with 'Jewish blood on their hands' in exchange for Gilad Schalit.

Who better to exchange than Olmert himself, whose hands are still warm with the blood of those 33 soldiers he sent to their deaths in the final stages of the Lebanon War, just to make him look good.

I have asked the same question again and again:

"What terrible sin did our people commit to deserve such weak, inept, corrupt and self-hating Jewish leaders?"

“Ben Gurion – do you read me?”

Last week Bibi Netanyahu joined Mayor Uri Lupolianski and other legislators at a Jerusalem solidarity rally on the site of King David’s ancient palace. They called for the nation to oppose Olmert’s plans to surrender parts of Jerusalem and strategic homeland territories to the non-existent leadership of the non-existent Palestinian nation. They called for a new ‘Coalition for Jerusalem’.

“A nation which, for two thousand and five hundred years, has faithfully adhered to the vow made by the first exiles by the waters of Babylon not to forget Jerusalem, will never agree to be separated from Jerusalem. Jewish Jerusalem will never accept alien rule after thousands of its youngsters liberated their historic homeland for the third time, redeeming Jerusalem from destruction and vandalism”.

Just imagine these words of a former prime minister, standing on the very foundations of the royal house of David, in the 40th year of its liberation as our Jewish capital city. Words spoken with the freedom of total sovereignty and security control paid for in the blood of its young soldiers.

Alas it is not so.

These words were indeed spoken by a former prime minister, but not Netanyahu and not last week.

These are the bold words of David Ben Gurion spoken nearly 60 years ago at a time when he had no inkling that, within two decades, Israel would recapture Jerusalem in such spectacular style. This was a speech Ben Gurion made to a sitting of the First Knesset in December 1949 when, after the War of Independence, the United Nations was debating the ‘internationalization’ of holy sites in Jerusalem, which was then under Jordanian rule.

How ironic that today happens to be Ben Gurion Day and Ehud Olmert has had to postpone the usual Sunday morning cabinet meeting in order to travel down to the Negev to speak at the celebratory events in the old man’s home town of Sde Boker.

That cabinet meeting was to have discussed the release of further terrorists to appease Mahmoud Abbas and kick-start Condi Rice’s Annapolis conference. Both Olmert and Rice are in this for their own personal reasons. Olmert:
to divert the nation’s attention from his reputation as the most corrupt and inept leader of the Jewish State. Rice: to salvage something from her lackluster performance as Secretary of State and her disservice to a well-meaning president.

Where Ben Gurion spoke from a battle-worn Tel Aviv with words of defiance, Olmert speaks from a secure and flourishing Jerusalem stronghold with words of capitulation.

As I write these lines, Ehud Olmert will doubtless be gushing with platitudes over Ben Gurion’s leadership and vision from a podium in Sde Boker. But his very appearance there must surely represent the most awful disgrace to the memory of the old man and his legacy.

But, like most things in Israel, it will all be forgotten the next day, when the cabinet meets ‘to discuss and approve’ the latest prisoner release. Do you think there is a chance that someone at the table will ask: “… and what about our own boys, Shalit, Regev and Goldwasser?”

Throw the Jew down the well

Witness the behavior of the establishment and press of the State of Israel.

How those who eased (an indicted) Chaim Ramon back into the revolving door of government, are so quick to attack (a so-far unindicted) Katsav's plea bargain agreement just so that the religious guy goes to prison.

And all this goes on while Shimon Peres moves his furniture into the presidential mansion. How convenient his election was to smooth the way for next year's scandals and the pardon that Olmert will undoubtedly need for at least one of the many charges ranged against him.

I have said it before and will say it again. Whatever Katsav is alleged to have done to "Miss Aleph" without her consent is nothing compared to what the secular establishment and its bedfellows in the anti-religious press are doing to the Jewish State.
